Day 1 - Arrive in Auckland and private hotel transfer
Meet your driver at the arrival gate at Auckland Airport for hotel transfer and check-in. Explore the America's Cup village then view the city from the Sky Tower. Take a boat trip to beautiful Waiheke Island or across to Devonport Village. Visit the shops and cafes of Parnell Village. If arriving early in the day, try to stay awake as long as possible to beat jet-lag.

Day 2 - Travel to Coromandel Peninsula
Drive your rental car to the eastern coast on the Coromandel Peninsula (160 km, 100 miles, 2.5 hours). The Coromandel has beautiful golden beaches, great swimming and bush walks. The Hahei Beach area is famous for its Hot Water Beach. Ensure visit at low tide to soak in a natural thermal spring. At nearby Cathedral Cove, discover the marine wildlife in the Hahei Marine Reserve. Enjoy fun activities, including scenic boat trips, sea kayaking, scuba diving, surfing and scooter rides.

Day 3 - Explore Beaches, go kayaking and Coastal Walks
Explore the beaches to the north, including Hot Water Beach. Dig your own Spa Pool in the sand at Hahei, Cathedral Cove and Cooks Beach. From Cooks Beach, drive to the Ferry and park your car at the landing. Take a short ferry ride across to Whitianga to cafes and shops. Stroll along Buffalo Beach or through the Te Pare Reserve. Join a guided kayaking tour ex Hahei Beach.

Day 16 - Travel into the Mt. Cook high country
Travel north from Dunedin along the coastal road to Oamaru and further inland to the MacKenzie/ Mt. Cook region. (Dunedin to Twizel: 256 km, 159 miles, 4 hours). The Waitaki region combines wild, windswept coastline with emerald plains and towering mountains. The region is home to the town of Moeraki and huge boulders. Continue north and stop at Oamaru to see whitestone architecture. Lunch at the iconic ‘Fleur’s’ restaurant in the fishing village of Moeraki. Travel inland to Aoraki Mount Cook to see turquoise blue lakes, and snow-capped mountains.The alpine village of Mount Cook is located in Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park and has accommodation. The area has 4WD safaris, boating on the glacier lakes, horse treks, fishing, scenic flights with snow landings and numerous walks. Due to limited accommodation, stays will vary between Twizel, Mt. Cook Village and Lake Tekapo.

Day 17 - Travel to Christchurch
Continue from Aoraki Mount Cook National Park via Lake Tekapo to the vast agricultural quilt of the Canterbury Plains. Arrive at the South Island’s largest city of Christchurch (Twizel to Christchurch: 285 km, 177 miles, 4 hours). The central business district of Christchurch is undergoing extensive renovation but the city continues to thrive as a 'Garden City'. Enjoy innovative dining, outdoor markets and great shopping. The surrounds are a backyard of alpine heights, expansive plains, fresh snow-fed rivers, luxury pockets of wineries, hot pools and a gorgeous coastline.

Day 18 - Depart ex Christchurch
Depending on your flight departure, you may still have plenty of time relax or explore the Christchurch region. Akaroa is only a 1.5 hour drive away (one-way). If you leave in the evening, Akaroa would be a perfect day trip!. You can extend your stay in Christchurch or any other location.

Day 13 - Explore Fiordland and Milford Sound
Milford Sound is fusion of spectacular natural features (125 km, 78 miles, 2.5 hours one-way).The Fiords rise vertically and when it rains, waterfalls become giant water canons. To avoid the 5-hour drive from Te Anau to Milford, join a small group tour into Milford Sounds which includes a nature cruise in the fjord. The tour leaves from Te Anau, continuing along the Milford Road. With a maximum of 11 people on-board, this is a personalized experience. Once in Milford Sound, your Nature Boat Cruise begins. At the end of the cruise, overland section of the tour begins. Choose a series of short guided walks or a 2.5 hour walk on the Routeburn Track to Key Summit. Return to Te Anau at 5.30pm.

Day 14 - Travel via Southland to Dunedin
Travel the agricultural heart of the Southland region or via the highly recommended Southern Coastal route to Dunedin. (Te Anau to Dunedin via Riverton and Invercargill: 395 km, 245 miles, 6 hours. Via Catlins, add another 60kms or 1 hour). The scenery along the southern coast is ruggedly beautiful. The villages are classic New Zealand heartland. Dunedin City is surrounded by dramatic hills and a natural harbour.  It is one of the best preserved Victorian and Edwardian cities in the Southern Hemisphere.

Day 15 - Penguins and Albatross colonies near Dunedin
The Royal Albatross Centre, is the only place in the world on the mainland where you can view Northern Royal Albatross in their natural habitat. Please note the Albatross colony is closed between 15 Sept and 25 Nov. On the doorstep of Dunedin city, you'll find incredible wildlife such as the world's rarest penguins, fur seals and sea lions. If you wish to explore the peninsula by yourself, do the ‘Tunnel Beach Walk’ then the ‘Sandfly Bay’ beach walk. Check out Larnach Castle and it’s stunning gardens.

Day 10 - Travel via Haast Pass to Wanaka or Queenstown
Travel via the ‘Gates of Haast’. (Fox Glacier to Wanaka: 262 km, 162 miles, 4 hours). From Haast to Jackson Bay, you'll enjoy empty beaches, lakes and wetlands. There is a variety of wildlife, including fur seals, Hector's Dolphins and Fiordland Crested Penguins. After the Haast Pass, enter the classic tussock grassland of Otago. The town of Wanaka has a relaxed village atmosphere and you can opt to stay here (only a one-hour drive from busy Queenstown). If you prefer an energetic nightlife and world-class facilities, stay in Queenstown.

Day 11 - Explore the Queenstown / Wanaka region
Wanaka is a winter and summer holiday destination, with activities for all seasons, including skiing, fishing, hiking, wine tasting, canyoning, scenic flights, skydiving and 750 kms of cycle trails Visit the nearby towns of Queenstown, Cromwell and Alexandra. Queenstown is located on the shore of the crystal clear Lake Wakatipu and is home to the ultimate adventure bucket list. Activities such as bungy jumping, sky diving, jet boating, horse trekking and river rafting, can be enjoyed all year round.

Day 12 - Travel to Te Anau / Fiordland
Take an easy drive to Te Anau, gateway to the Fiordland National Park and New Zealand's hiking capital. (Wanaka to Te Anau: 276 km, 171 miles, 3.5 hours). On arrival, do the ‘LOTR walk’ along the Waiau River (on the Kepler Track). Start from the ‘Rainbow Ridge’ swing bridge between Te Anau and Manapouri. The Fiordland region consists of 1.3 million hectares of untouched national heritage park and has great outdoor activities. Stay a minimum of 2 nights.

Day 7 - Explore the Abel Tasman National Park
When it comes to lush greenery and sea views, the Abel Tasman Coast Track is an absolute stunner! Explore this National Park by taking a water taxi to start of the many coastal walks. Another popular option is to join a guided sea kayaking tour for a half or full day. If you haven’t done sea kayaking before, take the half-day trip and either walk or water taxi back. You’ll have a great time!

Day 8 - Travel the West Coast to Punakaiki
Travel from the Nelson-Tasman region via the Buller Gorge to the gorgeous West Coast of the South Island. Today you’ll be in the Punakaiki region. (275 km, 170 miles, 4 hours). The Great Coast Road is one of the Top 10 Coastal Drives in the world. Drive along the ancient limestone cliffs of Paparoa National Park, home to the world's smallest penguin. Stop along the way to go underground rafting at Charleston or caving at Fox River. See the famous Pancake Rocks and Blowholes at Punakaiki. Visit Cape Foulwind and stop in Westport for home-baked food and coffee.

Day 9 - Travel to Fox Glacier
Travel through ‘New Zealand heartland’. (Punakaiki to Fox: 240 km, 146 miles, 3.5 hours). There are few towns on the 600 kms of coastal road between Karamea and Jackson Bay, but plenty of scenic beauty. Visit the goldfield walkway at Ross and stop by the shores of Lake Ianthe. A visit to the White Heron colony near Whataroa is a must-do. Linger in the historic town of Hokitika for a coffee, visit the local museum and buy some Jade. A helicopter flight and snow landing on Franz Josef or Fox Glacier is a major highlight.

Day 4 - Travel via Waitomo Caves to Rotorua
Travel via the Waikato region to the famous Waitomo caves (225 km, 140 miles, 3 hours). The beauty of the stalactites is breathtaking. The best way to see the caves is to join a walking or boat tour. Try blackwater rafting. Float through caves on a rubber tube or go abseiling through the darkness. The Ruakuri Cave walking/boat tour does not require a wetsuit. If you wish to do the more adventurous Black Water Rafting or abseiling  (4 or 7 hours) you'll need to stay in the Waitomo area tonight. Otherwise, continue on to Rotorua (140 km, 87 miles, 2 hours).

Day 5 - Explore Rotorua and Lake Taupo
Located within the Pacific Rim of Fire, Rotorua is a geothermal wonderland of bubbling mud pools and natural hot springs. Absorb the landscape and volcanic activity, take a relaxing soak in a natural hot stream or be pampered at a luxurious spa. Rotorua offers a spiritual journey into Maori culture with village and performance experiences. For outdoor adventures, go trout fishing, kayaking, hiking and mountain biking. If it’s adrenaline you crave, go sky-diving, jet boating or zorbing.

Day 6 - Domestic flight Rotorua to Nelson
Leave your rental car at the Rotorua Airport and take a domestic flight to Nelson. Collect another rental car outside the Nelson Airport terminal. Nelson/Tasman is a warm and colourful paradise, perfect for outdoor activities. The region is surrounded by the Tasman Ocean, the start of the Southern Alps, pristine rivers, sandy beaches and three National Parks (Kahurangi, Abel Tasman and Nelson Lakes National Park). Quality artwork and wines are definite highlights. Stay in a vineyard cottage. For a higher level of comfort and luxury, we can offer alternative accommodation. Stay 2 nights.
