Day 1: Arrive in Sydney
Arrive in Sydney and stay two nights. Sydney is one the most beautiful cities in the world, delighting travellers with it's stunning harbour, great beaches, exciting shopping and dining, plus a fabulous nightlife scene.
Day 2: Stay and explore Sydney
Spend the day exploring Sydney - visit the Queen Victoria Building, Darling Harbour, the Opera House, The Rocks and the stunning harbour suburbs of Potts Point, the ritzy Double Bay and Watsons Bay.
Day 3: Flight from Sydney to Cairns and continue to Port Douglas
Take a domestic flight from Sydney to Cairns, pick-up a rental car and continue to Port Douglas. Relax at your beachside accommodation and enjoy tropical waters and lush bush surrounds.
Day 4: Stay and explore the Great Barrier Reef
Choose between a day trip onto the Great Barrier Reef snorkelling and diving among the spectacular coral formations a popular activity, or visit the Daintree Forest National Park. Experience the unique and beautiful tropical fauna and wildlife of this 76000 hectare National park - the largest tract of tropical rainforest remaining in Australia. Guided wildlife cruises explore the Daintree River where you can get close to a saltwater crocodile..
Day 5: Flight from Cairns to Ayers Rock
Fly from Cairns to Ayers Rock to experience real outback Australia, where nature has an overwhelming power.The skyscrapers are made of rock, not steel. One of the best shows in town is the spectacular million-star night-time display. This arid environment is home to a large population of unique animals, birds and reptiles. Wallabies, dingoes, emus, tiny geckos and huge eagles are just some of the long-established locals you’re likely to encounter.
Day 6: Stay and explore the Outback
Do a day tour into the Outback to Experience Ayers Rock-Uluru and the Kata Tjuta National Park - Join a cultural tour with an Aboriginal guide, or experience a campfire dinner and savour barramundi, emu or kangaroo underneath an incomparable starlit sky. Uluru’s cousins, the Olgas, or Kata Tjuta, form another sacred site just 32 kilometres away: a collection of 36 steep, rounded, russet domes over 3,500 hectares.
Day 7: Flight from Ayers Rock to Melbourne
Fly from Ayers Rock to Melbourne. Your accommodation here is in St Kilda; a beachside suburb an easy tram ride from the city centre and close to great cafes and interesting shopping.
Day 8: Stay and explore Melbourne
Explore Melbournes stunning architecture, great dining, art galleries, parks, gardens and shops. The Victoria Market is definitely a highlight. The city centre is attractive and easy to explore. The shopping in Bridge and Chapel Streets is for those in need of serious retail therapy. In the afternoon, consider joining a Penguin tour to Phillips Island.
Day 9: Flight from Melbourne to Christchurch
Fly from Melbourne to Christchurch, New Zealand - a 3 hour trip.
Day 10: Stay and explore Christchurch
Christchurch is a pretty garden city with a gentle river winding through it. Visit the Art Gallery and botanical gardens. View the exciting rebuild of the inner city then explore the new, vibrant cafe scene and specialist shops in the suburbs where you can buy a cake in a jar! Other options include the International Antarctic Centre or a day trip to Akaroa on Banks Peninsula.
Day 11: TranzAlpine Train to Greymouth and continue to Franz Josef Glacier
Train journey with TranzAlpine to Greymouth through the magnificent Southern Alps. Pick-up your rental car at the train station and continue to Franz Josef Glacier. If the weather is clear when you arrive, take a helicopter flight up onto the glacier below Mt Cook for stunning views of the Southern Alps and the bush and beaches of the West Coast.
Day 12: Stay and explore the Glaciers
Make a full day available to explore the glacier, Okarito Lagoon and the many bush walks around the area.
Day 13: Travel from Franz Josef Glacier to Queenstown
Travel to Queenstown via Haast Pass.This is a particularly beautiful drive and you are likely to want to make a few stops along the way. If time allows, drive into Wanaka an hour south of Queenstown. This pretty lakeside town is surrounded by mountains and is a popular ski resort in winter.
Day 14: Stay and explore Queenstown and Milford Sound
Join a trip from Queenstown airport to Milford with Real Journeys - you can see the beauty of Fiordland from the air and on the water. After the flight returns, you'll have plenty of time in Queenstown to explore, go rafting, horse trekking or simply have a relaxing afternoon.
Day 15: Flight from Queenstown to Rotorua
Fly from Queenstown to Rotorua in the central North Island. On arrival, relax in the hot pools when you arrive and visit a Thermal Reserve.
Day 16: Stay and explore Rotorua
Spend a full day in Rotorua. Explore the volcanic areas and hot pools around the town, visit a Maori Village and experience a traditional Hangi concert. Consider a boat trip with fishing on the lake or a scenic flight over volcanic White Island.
Day 17: Travel Rotorua via Waitomo Caves to Auckland
Drive to Auckland and stay a last night in the city centre.From your central downtown accommodation you can stroll to the Viaduct basin, waterfront cafes and bars, take a boat across to Devonport for some last minute shopping and do a ride up the Sky Tower for views over the city and harbour.
Day 18: Flight from Auckland to Nadi
International flight to Nadi/Fiji from Auckland. Depending on your arrival time you may need to stay overnight in Nadi before your transfer to one of the offshore islands. Alternatively you may stay in one of the mainland resort hotels.
Day 19-23: Stay and explore Fiji
Take time to relax at the beach or join water sport activities. Depending on your international flights you may need to stay the last night on the mainland to be able to catch your flight.
Day 24: Depart Fiji
Depart from Fiji on your international flight.
