Costs are based on two people travelling and staying in a twin/double room.
Day 1.
Arrive in Sydney and stay two nights. One of the most beautiful cities in the world, Sydney has a stunning harbour and beaches, exciting shopping and eating and a great nightlife scene.
Day 2.
Spend the day exploring Sydney - the Queen Victoria Building, Darling Harbour, the Opera House, The Rocks and some of the stunning harbour suburbs such as Potts Point, ritzy Double Bay and Watsons Bay.
Day 3.
Fly from Sydney to Cairns with Virgin Blue. Relax at your beachside accommodation and enjoy the warm water and lush bush surrounds.
Day 4.
Take a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef with snorkelling and diving among the spectacular coral formations a popular activity.
Day 5.
Day tour to Daintree Forest National Park. Experience the unique and beautiful tropical fauna and wildlife of this 76000 hectare National park - the largest tract of tropical rainforest remaining in Australia.Guided wildlife cruises explore the Daintree River and you can get close to a saltwater crocodile here.
Day 6.
Fly from Cairns to Darwin with Virgin Blue. Darwin is a modern tropical city, home to more than 50 ethnic groups including a vibrant Aboriginal community.
Day 7.
Drive with rental car to the Kakadu National Park 147 km east of Darwin and one of Australia's most significant ecological treasures.
Day 8.
Day tour Kakadu National Park.Home to an astounding range of wildlife, Aboriginal art and archaelogical sites. A boat cruise is an excellent way to experience the wildlife and habitats.
Day 9.
Return to Darwin airport and fly to Alice Springs and experience real outback Australia. Nature has an overwhelming power here - the skyscrapers are made of rock, not steel, and one of the best shows in town is the spectacular million-star night-time display. Its arid environment is home to a large population of unique animals, birds and reptiles. Wallabies, dingoes, emus, tiny geckos and huge eagles are just some of the long-established locals you’re likely to encounter.
Day 10.
Do a day tour into the Outback. Experience Ayers Rock-Uluru and the Kata Tjuta National Park - Take a cultural tour with an Aboriginal guide, or a campfire dinner, where you can savour barramundi, emu or kangaroo underneath an incomparable starlit sky. Uluru’s cousins, the Olgas, or Kata Tjuta, form another sacred site just 32 kilometres away: a collection of 36 steep, rounded, russet domes over around 3,500 hectares.
Day 11.
Fly from Alice Springs to Adelaide, an attractive city surrounded by parks and gardens, nearly 1000 hectares in total, Adelaide is a subtle blend of culture, churches and cafes.
Day 12.
Day tour either to Kangaroo Island, the third largest island off mainland Australia and a popular destination with fine beaches, great fishing, diving and surfing and plenty of wildlife. There are regular flights from Adelaide or a ferry from Cape Jervis.Another option is to take a day trip to the Barossa Valley for wine tasting in this well known viticultural centre.
Day 13.
International flight from Adelaide to Queenstown, New Zealand.
Day 14.
Included in the price of your itinerary is a day trip to Milford with Real Journeys - you can see the beauty of Fiordland from the air and on the water. You will have plenty of time in Queenstown after the flight returns to explore or go rafting, horse trekking or simply have a relaxing afternoon.
Day 15.
Travel to Fox Glacier via Haast Pass, allowing 5 hours driving. If the weather is clear, when you arrive take a flight by helicopter up onto the glacier below Mt Cook for stunning views of the Southern Alps and the bush and beaches of the West Coast. A guided walk onto the glacier with Alpine Guides is included in your itinerary.
Day 16.
If you enjoyed your evening flight or the weather was not clear, book a heli-hike onto the glacier with a guide or take a guided hiking trip. Take a walk around Lake Mathieson or drive out to Gillespies beach.
Day 17.
Travel to Punakaiki along the Westcoast of the South Island.Drive to Punakaiki (250 km, 3 hours)with a stop off in Hokitika, where you can see Jade carvers at work. Take a walk down Trumans Track just north of Punakaiki at low tide and try to see the Pancake Rocks and blowholes at Dolomite Point at high tide. There are lots of good bush walks around the Paparoa National Park and the Fox River.Stay in Punakaiki.
Day 18.
Travel to the Abel Tasman / Nelson area through the Buller Gorge. Stop at Cape Foulwind seal colony and have lunch at The Bayhouse Cafe. Another worthwhile stop is the Nile River Valley where you can take an open train trip through the rainforest to the limestone caves.
Day 19.
Kayaking day tour in the Abel Tasman National Park. Drive to Marahau via Kaiteriteri to the Southern entrance to the park and the base for sea kayaking, boat trips and walks.Sea Kayaking is included in your itinerary (NB. the Park is the most visited in New Zealand and bookings are recommended for the summer months in particular).If time allows, the Pupu Walkway and Te Waikoropupu Springs, the clearest freshwater springs in the Southern Hemisphere, are well worth a detour.
Day 20.
Fly from Nelson to Napier on the East Coast of the North Island. This is a premium wine growing area and is home to many excellent restaurants, wineries, orchards, artists and crafts people and is also known as a centre for art deco.
Day 21.
Travel to Rotorua via Lake Taupo, the largest lake in New Zealand and famous for Rainbow Trout fishing. Stop off at Huka falls just north of Taupo and the Wairakei Thermal Reserve before driving onto Rotorua.
Day 22.
Have a full day available in Rotorua. Explore the volcanic areas and hot pools around the town, a traditional Hangi concert, a boat trip and fishing on the lake. A trip to a traditional maori Village and cultural centre is included in your itinerary. Also included is a Volcanic Air Safari trip to White island.
Day 23.
Travel to the Coromandel Peninsula, a favourite holiday destination for New Zealanders with a relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches and native bush walks and a great place to relax for the last couple of days in New Zealand.
Day 24.
Take a picnic and explore the beautiful beaches and bush walks. At Hot Water Beach where there are volcanic springs under the sand you can dig your own spa. Hahei,Cathedral Cove and Cooks Beach are all recommended as well as many others.From Cooks Beach, drive along to Ferry landing, leave your car here and take a short ferry ride across to Whitianga with a good selection of cafes and shopping and a walk along Buffalo Beach.
Day 25.
Travel to Auckland and stay a last night in the city centre.From your downtown accommodation in the Viaduct basin, you can stroll to waterfront cafes and bars, take a boat across to Devonport, take in some last minute shopping in downtown Auckland and take a ride up the Sky Tower for views over the city and harbour.
