Gunyah Country Lodge, built in 1912, is one of Canterbury's grand old homesteads. Here you will experience the warm hospitality of your hosts, Ann and Harry Denton, and sample their fine gourmet country cuisine complemented by New Zealand wines. Guests can relax in the mature country garden or have a game of croquet and enjoy the native bird life. The pet lamb, deer and pig that roam the 25 acres have all been hand reared and enjoy human company. The five large well appointed guests rooms all have ensuite bathrooms and rural views. Downstairs, the guests have the use of the elegant drawing room, library and dining room, all furnished with the original antique furniture. In the evening guests are able to enjoy the relaxed surroundings and the roaring open fires.Positioned in the foothills of the Southern Alps, Gunyah lends itself to a host of outdoor persuits such as skiing, fishing, golf and hunting.
